October 2024 Newsletter

Happy October! Here’s what we were up to in September-

We received £2,553.78 from 88 financial contributors, and we spent £5,015.26. Our current balance is £10,309.40. We’d like to extend an extra thank you to Lola’s Newport Marathon Fundraiser which brought in £618.58!

You may have seen our call-out for volunteers. We’re especially looking for people to join our Events, Finance, Grants, and Social Media teams. We are also looking for team leads for our Events, Finance, and Social Media teams. https://x.com/transaidcymru/status/1844792645693940046

We’ve also noticed that far fewer people have been applying for grants since we posted that we were oversubscribed. We’re now far undersubscribed! We really appreciate you all looking out for each other, and we want to encourage you to please apply for grants if and when you need them. Redistributing money to support our community is one of the most important things we do. We’re here for you!

On 13th September, we had our Big Splash event! These events are always a blast and allow us as trans, intersex, and nonbinary people to have a space to swim or use a gym. Transmasc and nonbinary adults (ages 18+) are welcome to swim without a swim top. We had a lovely time at our October meet as well and invite you to join us in November! These are usually held on the second Friday of each month. Of course, another big shoutout to @NotaPhaseOrg for supporting this event! The suggested donation amount is £5.50, and there are free tickets available.

Here are some resource announcements we’ve shared over the month:

In case you missed it, TransPaC will soon be launching their website meant to support trans parents, carers, and their families! The website includes resources and guides, support service signposting, expert advice for parents and carers, resources for children, and guidance for professionals. Check it out here: https://transpac.positiveidentities.org.uk/

Age Cymru are hosting a round table discussion event about the future provision of public toilets in Wales. The event will take place in the Peter Cronin Suite at Cardiff Central Library on 7th November between 2.30 and 4.30pm. Please DM to get involved or if you have any questions!

Thank you for your continued support as we build up our team! We’ll be back next month with our next update.

In solidarity,

Your TAC Team
