April & May 2025 Newsletter

Happy May! Here’s what we were up to in March and April:

We received £7,210.85 in donations from 290 contributors and we spent £4,367.29 across March and April. We have £12,178.87 left in our main pot, £1,045 left of our Consortium Devolved Nations Fund Grant, and £2,000 in our Fund For Wales Grant.

We had amazing turn-outs for our March and April Swim & Gym events! We hope to see you at our next Swim & Gym event on May 23rd! As a reminder, swimmers are welcome to swim without a swim top. We also have access to a full gym! As always, many thanks to Not a Phase for collaborating with us on these events.

Speaking of events, we had a lovely film screening of “India’s 1st Best Trans Model Agency” all thanks to the director, Ila Mehrotra. Thank you so much to everyone who came out on the 10th to watch with us!

Wondering why this is a combo newsletter? We’ve been super busy lately! On Monday, 21st April, we joined so many other organisations across Wales to protest the Supreme Court ruling which declared trans women are not women. THOUSANDS showed up that day, and we are still revelling in the solidarity from it. THANK YOU so much for your support. We will never be erased. You can read our full statement here: https://bsky.app/profile/transaid.cymru/post/3lmyzu6xpna2j

We released our annual and financial reports! You can find those on our website (https://transaid.cymru/) under the “Status Reports” tab!

We also released a detailed look at our March finances (April finance post coming soon!) which you can find here: https://bsky.app/profile/transaid.cymru/post/3lnzpcesuax2f Again, thank you to everyone who donates and shares our work. It’s wild to know that we’ve been at this for roughly five years!

As an ongoing reminder: We are keeping our emergency grants closed for the time being. However, we are hoping to reopen these soon. We’ll let you know when that changes! In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to apply for our general grants! Find information about those here: https://transaid.cymru/types-of-grants/

We are working on updating our stickers (the big trans flag ones with QR codes)! Our previous sticker printing place has closed its local shop, and we are working on getting everything going with our new vendor. If you have placed an order for stickers and have not heard back from us, please reach out!

One last note – We’re glad to see that Pride Cymru has dropped Barclays due to their transphobia, although their complicity with the genocide in Palestine and climate crisis should have seen them dropped far sooner. We have written an open letter to Pride Cymru about other organisations that need to be banned from Pride Cymru in order to restore community trust and ensure community safety. As always, we call on Pride Cymru to drop the police, military, and prison services in order to stop these organisations using them to launder their public image. If you or your organisation would like to sign this open letter, you can do so here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdEtQDiD967BsMaBkja3k_8-OUDc3ZgsU9e17t-ptJJ2aAVyQ/viewform?usp=sharing

In solidarity,

Your TAC Team
