July 2024 Newsletter

Happy July! Here’s what we were up to in June –

We received £1,805.16 from 94 financial contributors, and we spent £4,027.46. Our current balance is £12,067.45.

This month, we boosted Ella’s fundraiser for her facial feminisation surgery. Please consider donating to help meet Ella’s goal here: https://gofund.me/1a502cdf

On 1st June, we had our monthly Cardiff meetup. Thank you to everyone who attended, and thank you as always to @NotAPhaseOrg for funding and collaborating with us on these free sober socials! We had a lovely time at our meetup on 6th July, as well, and we’re looking forward to our August meet for a nice, summery event! These are usually held on the first Saturday of each month and are open to trans, intersex, and nonbinary people. Just DM us for the location! You can also apply for travel funding to the events on our Open Collective.

On the 14th, we had our Big Splash event! These events are always a blast and allow us as trans, intersex, and nonbinary people to have a space to swim or use a gym. Transmasc and nonbinary adults (ages 18+) are welcome to swim without a swim top. Join us for our next one on 12th July! These are usually held on the second Friday of each month. Of course, another big shoutout to @NotaPhaseOrg for supporting this event! The suggested donation amount is £5.50, and there are free tickets available. These have been especially popular lately, and we can’t wait to see you!

On the 17th, we co-hosted a crafting afternoon with Artists for Palestine. Together, we made banners, signs, badges, and collages to prepare for protests. Thank you to all of you who joined us at Umbrella for this event! Our time together gives us the strength we need to keep protesting until Palestine is free.

On the 22nd, we attended the Big Queer Picnic in Sophia Gardens! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent! We love BQP because it’s a Pride event that showcases the diversity of our community without commercialisation or policing.

One final note – please make sure your details are up-to-date with the Welsh Gender Service if you are waiting for care. The Welsh Gender Service currently sends out letters when you’re at the top of the list, and if your contact details are out of date then you might miss this letter. We know students move around a lot, so it’s really important you keep the WGS updated! You can find out how to reach the team at https://gender.wales/

That’s all for this month. We’ll be back in August for our next update.

In solidarity,

Your TAC Team
