July Newsletter

Happy July, everyone!

Here’s what we were up to in June:

We received £2,586.45 in donations from 120 contributors and we spent £3,144.15. We have £12,482.48 left in our main pot, £0 left of our Consortium Devolved Nations Fund Grant, and £1,610 in our Fund For Wales Grant.

You can find our May finance rundown here: https://x.com/transaidcymru/status/1935246243170484397

We had such a fantastic time at our June Swim & Gym events! Thank you so much to everyone who joined us on the 13th and 27th! This month, we had our first special addition to the Swim & Gym – a visit from G(end)er Swap! Much thanks to them for coming to provide a space for people to discuss, donate, and/or get binders! We hope to see you at our next Swim & Gym event on the 25th. As a reminder, swimmers are welcome to swim without a swim top. We have access to a full gym and a – a new update – a personal trainer! As always, many thanks to Not a Phase for collaborating with us on these events.

We’ve also been having a lovely time at our craft events! Thank you to everyone who joined us on the 11th and 25th! Keep an eye on our Instagram or reach out to us if you’d like to join us in the future.

We had an absolute blast at the Big Queer Picnic on the 22nd – thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our tent, and thank you to BQP for creating a Pride that is by and for us!

Finally, we were proud to march alongside so many other organisations  at the Queers Against Conquest march on the 28th. Throughout all of pride month and beyond, we continue to affirm that there is no Pride in genocide.

Thank you so much to everyone who applied for our freelance role! Our applications have closed, and our management team is hard at work reviewing applications. We’ll be doing interviews this month. Good luck to all!

Here’s a reminder of some recurring resources:

We run our grants on a bimonthly basis. Trans, intersex, and nonbinary people in Wales are able to apply for up to £60 per month. You can find out more here: https://transaid.cymru/how-to-apply-for-grants/

As a special announcement, our emergency grants are finally back open! You can find further details using the previous link. Essentially, these grants run throughout the month rather than on the 1st and 15th so that we can better accommodate emergency situations. You can request up to £200 for urgent and unexpected costs.

We run a meal share scheme! If you are in need of meals, you can find out more and apply for it here: https://transaid.cymru/our-projects/#mealsharescheme If you have some extra time and can help deliver meals or help with the administrative side, please DM us on our socials or email [email protected] to get involved.

And here are some community resources and announcements:

Are you interested in learning more about using make-up? G(end)er Swap have just started a resource for trans+ people with all kinds of tips and resources! Check it out here: https://gem.godaddy.com/p/7058cc1?pact=34810-187565913-0197590b-488b-72b5-8225-2b321d05b270-8dbcd9662e381971bc64e5a6c044c651f3054c19

Lambeth Links are running a pilot study that might interest you! Content warnings for mentions of sex, substances, and chemsex. “Participants will receive 3 months of free access to the app, which is specifically designed to help manage PTSD and trauma recovery, whether they’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, or depression or are still trying to make sense of their experience(s). Community members struggling with their mental health are welcome to join the pilot, whether or not chemsex is part of their experience.

“Through the remind app, users can access evidence-based tools, track symptoms and triggers, get personalised insights, and access reliable resources — whenever and wherever they need them. Built on real-life experiences, clinical expertise, and research.

“Help us spread the word!

“We’d love your help spreading the word about this pilot. By joining, participants can share their experiences and help shape more inclusive and effective mental health support for the queer community.” Feel free to message us if you’d like to connect to the study!”

That’s all for this month. See you soon!

In solidarity,

Your TAC Team
