Happy Pride! Pride hapus! Here’s what we were up to in May –

We received £2,610.10 from 116 financial contributors, and we spent £3,081.46. Our current balance is £14,289.75.

This month, we boosted two fundraisers. First, we boosted Rain’s fundraiser to help pay for electrolysis. Please consider donating to help reach Rain’s goal here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/mtf-electrolysis-treatment-for-excessive-hair

We also shared Luca’s fundraiser to help pay for gender-affirming surgery. Please consider donating to help Luca here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/lucas-journey-top-surgery

One big announcement: This month, one of our long-time volunteers stepped away. We are so thankful for all of the work Kay put in during their time with us and are excited for them to be able to focus more on their own tasks! Please join us in sending Kay love and keep an eye out if you’d like to join our team.

On 4th May, we had our monthly Cardiff meetup. Thank you to everyone who attended, and thank you as always to @NotAPhaseOrg for funding and collaborating with us on these free sober socials! Trans, intersex, and non-binary people are welcome to join us for our next meetup on 1st June (the meet is very early this month!) from 1-4 PM or for a future meet. DM us for the location! These are usually held on the first Saturday of each month. You can also apply for travel funding to the events on our Open Collective.

On the 10th, we had our Big Splash event! These events are always a blast and allow us as trans, intersex, and nonbinary people to have a space to swim or use a gym. Join us for our next one on 7th June! These are usually held on the second Friday of each month. Of course, another big shoutout to @NotaPhaseOrg for supporting this event! The suggested donation amount is £5.50, and there are free tickets available.

On the 20th, we had our final Dyddiau Du meetup! Thank you as always to everyone who attended and to @NotAPhaseOrg for collaborating and funding. Dyddiau Du have moved and are now Tŷ Willcox, part of the @carneddcaerdydd community. We won’t be meeting there, but we encourage you to go check it out!

To repeat our final note from last month – we are in need of donations to keep TAC afloat! Demand for our grants has continued to increase over the past year and have outpaced our donations. In the first four months of 2024, we have had to deny 55% of the funds requested in grants.

At this point, we are likely to run out of money within the next few months and will no longer be able to support the TIN community in Wales financially. With your help, we can avoid decreasing the amount of money we give away. You can donate at https://opencollective.com/transaidcymru/donate

Our capacity is a bit strained this Pride month, but we look forward to seeing you at any events we’re able to attend. Don’t forget, our struggles are intertwined with those in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, and in so many other places. This month, we protest for all of us.

That’s all for this month. We’ll be back in July for our next update.

In solidarity,

Your TAC Team
